Judy's first encounter with horses was when she was eight years old, riding with her aunt on the Sussex Downs in England o an extremely naughty fat brown pony called Nobby who frequently ran away with her. She was not deterred. Later, in her teenage years, she rode her aunt's beautifully schooled horse but there was no time for competition whilst still at school.
